Akkineni Nagarjuna is an Indian actor and producer.
Akkineni Nagarjuna started his career as a child artist in the 1967 Telugu film, Sudigundalu. In 1986, he made his acting debut as a lead actor in the film, Vikram.
In 1988, he starred in the film Aakhari Poratam, which was directed by K. Raghavendra Rao.
In 1989, he starred in the romantic-drama movie Geetanjali. It won the award for “Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment” at the National Film Awards in 1990.
Other film projects he did are Killer, Chaithanya, Nirnayam, President Gari Pellam, Varasudu, Gharana Bullodu, and Allari Alludu.
In 1994, he starred in a Hindi-Telugu bilingual Criminal directed by Mahesh Bhatt. Then, he ventured into comedy film with Hello Brother.
In 1996, he produced and starred in the film Ninne Pelladata. It won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu and Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu.
Nagarjuna made his debut as a television producer in 2009 with the serial Yuva. He is the brand ambassador for HIV/AIDS. He is one of the major shareholders of the television channel Maa TV. He owns Annapurna Studios and is the president of the non-profit film school Annapurna International School of Film and Media, based in Hyderabad. He is the co-founder of Blue Cross of Hyderabad, a registered society recognized by the Animal Welfare Board of India.
Akkineni Nagarjuna was born on August 29, 1959 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He studied at Little Flower Junior College and completed his M.S. in Automobile Engineering from Eastern Michigan University. He is married to actress Amala Akkineni.
