Clowney was often regarded as his class’ best player, and was considered a five-star recruit by Scout.com, ESPNU, and Rivals.com, as well as the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2011 class.
On his 18th birthday, Jadeveon Clowney announced his intention to attend University of South Carolina, and playing for the university’s football team, the Gamecocks. He chose USC over Alabama, Florida State, Clemson, and Louisiana State University.
