American television personality John Godwin has an estimated net worth of $1.5 million. He is one of the few cast members of Duck Dynasty, a hit show on A&E, who is not part of the Robertson family. The show follows the life of the Robertson family and is currently on its second season. The family used to live poorly but they were lucky enough when they started making duck calls which are used in hunting. Their most popular bird call is the Duck Commander which has made them millionaires. Currently, they manufacture various hunting calls. However, it is their duck calls which provide them a majority of their income. The business is run by two generations of Robertsons, their family and their employees.
Godwin has worked at Duck Commander by building bird calls as well as overseeing the supplies and shipping since 2002. While at the show, his main title is decoy technician who figures out the exact spot where the decoys should be placed and works on all equipment after the hunt to make sure that it is ready to be used for the next day’s hunt. He appears on Duckmen 7-11, The Art of Commanding Ducks, Best of the Duckmen and the popular television show Benelli which presents Duck Commander on the Outdoor Channel.
Before joining the Robertson family, John Godwin grew up hunting deer with his father. He was then introduced into the world of waterfowl and duck calls which have captured his attention. As a teenager, he won third place in his first calling contest where Phil Robertson was one of the judges. Phil has “tuned up” his call to make it ready for competition.
