Former United States Olympic women’s gymnastics coach John Geddert could face criminal charges from the Michigan Attorney General’s office on Thursday.

No charges had been filed against Geddert as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when the court closed. The Michigan Attorney General’s Office declined to comment.
Geddert previously owned and trained the Twistars gymnastics club in Dimondale, where hundreds of women say they were sexually abused by convicted sex offender Larry Nassar. John Geddert Investigation Report
Geddert has been under investigation for three years, beginning almost immediately after Nassar’s sentencing hearings, where many women and girls who gave impact statements to victims said that Geddert knew about Nassar’s abuse.
“There is no excuse for you not knowing what was going on in your gym,” gymnast Bailey Lorencen said in 2018. “Except for the inexcusable negligence and lack of leadership … I don’t understand why anyone might still want to train (in Twistars), especially knowing that in that backroom dungeon, hundreds of their athletes were being abused. ”
Eaton County began an investigation of Geddert in February 2018, shortly after USA Gymnastics suspended him. In early 2019, the Michigan Attorney General’s Office took over the investigation.
The Attorney General’s office executed a search warrant at Geddert’s Grand Ledge home and at Twistars in January 2020.
