Miesha Tate began her career in high school when she joined the boys’ wrestling team. She won the high school women’s state championship and also in the nationals at the World Team Trials for the 158 lb division.
Upon the encouragement of her friend, Rosalia Watson, she joined a mixed martial arts club at the Central Washington University. Tate amassed 5-1 amateur record before her debut as a professional MMA artist.
She debuted in mixed martial arts in 2007, as Tate defeated Jan Finney during the HOOKnSHOOT Women’s Grand Prix. After a year, she joined Strikeforce, then fought against Elaina Maxwell during the Strikeforce: Melendez vs Thomson.
