There are many items that are purported to be the “perfect” gift for moms for any occasion, but not all moms are into the latest fashion or newest gadget on the market. Check out five ideas that stand the test of time and will bring a smile to your mom’s face.
1. An electronic picture frame can be a wonderful gift for any mom. Moms who have jobs outside of the home sometimes have trouble keeping their desk pictures up-to-date, so it would be easy to bring the pictures in on the USB drive and upload a new set of pictures at work. At home, having a picture frame on the wall cycling through a year or two of pictures can make mom smile with the memories as she walks past the frame.
2. Before buying her an appliance that you’re sure she’ll love, make sure she’ll really love it. “She’s always vacuuming and sweeping,” may be something you’ve noticed, but that doesn’t mean she enjoys it. However, an appliance like a Roomba that vacuums the room itself may be a very welcome addition to her appliance “collection.”
3. A Keurig Single-Cup Home Brewing System is a gift that can save mom money and time. While it is technically an appliance, it is an appliance that requires little to no work on mom’s part. Even if your mom doesn’t drink coffee, Keurig has tea and hot chocolate K-cups. It also has easy clean up. So, mom can enjoy her coffee, tea or hot chocolate without all the prep work or clean up.
4. Jewelry is a difficult item to buy for a person, unless you know exactly what that person likes. However, a mother’s ring with her children’s birthstones is usually a winning gift for any mom. If she has a mother’s ring, you can buy her a lovely necklace with birth charms to match or earrings with her children’s birthstones. If mom is not done having children, it is a good idea to get jewelry that can be added to later.
5. Sometimes, when kids grow up and move out, time with their children is what a mom cherishes most of all. Give her a wall calendar specifically made with at least one day marked as a day with you. If you have siblings, have them set days aside to just spend with Mom and add that to the calendar. Even a once-a-month or bi-monthly family dinner that is set on the calendar is a gift mom will appreciate. (Don’t forget to help with the dishes afterward.)
The key to getting mom the perfect gift is to think of things she will truly like and will not cause her to work to enjoy it. It doesn’t need to cost much, but some thought should be behind your choice.
